Belief can heal
We are all imperfect. Life can be exhausting, given family duties, job stress, relationship problems, and financial strains. Meanwhile broadcast and social media (and even some churches) thrive on perpetuating doubt, anxiety and insecurity. Getting out of our own heads can help. Believing in something larger than ourselves helps.
You don’t have to do it yourself. Come be in peace with us at Sunday worship. Share your challenges at Adult Formation. Join our meditative prayer group. You just might feel better.
What guides our beliefs?
The Episcopal Church is affiliated with the Anglican Church, which was formed in 1529. Shortly after its founding, Anglican theologian Richard Hooker suggested the three-legged stool as a stable basis for the new church:
Tradition, in the form of the liturgies, practices, governing structure and church laws.
Scripture- Protestants, pointing at corruption within the structures and laws of the Roman Catholics, opted to focus their new churches solely on the Bible.
Reason- the founders of the Anglican Church insisted that a third leg was necessary for a stable stool- human reason. We must use our God-given brains to read and interpret the Bible and to participate fully in the church.
